have ventured into building models to suit the need of the railway so
the following have no prototypes. I have taken some ideas from
prototypes and have adjusted to suit the build.
First of many hoppers for the AFR. These are constructed out of pipe off-cuts from work with the ladders being wire mesh cut & bent to suit. It is seen here before being sent to the paint shop.
The Railway has classified these as a Yj and of course painted them red oxide with the company's logo on the side. They are mounted on USA Trains trucks and metal wheel sets, the arch bar frames in the photo were test trucks and hve been replaced with Bettendorf ones.
